A tourist visa is a stamp or document that will allow you to stay in Thailand for a specific period of time. The purpose of your trip in Thailand must be tourism. It is stamped on your passport when you arrive at one of the airports. It may be obtained in your home country through a Thai Embassy or consulate located there. The visa can also be extended if you need. There are certain countries that have made arrangements with Thailand in order to get a visa exemption when entering the kingdom of Thailand.

Documents required for a Thailand Tourist Visa:
Passport or travel document with a validity not less than 6 months
Visa application form (filled out)
One(1) recent 4x6cm. photograph of the applicant
Round-trip air ticket or e-ticket (paid in full)
Proof of financial means (20,000 baht per person/40,000 baht per family)
Don’t forget that consular officers reserve the rights to request for additional documents when they deemed it necessary, so it is advisable that you present yourself when you are in a good shape and state, together with your papers and documents passport.
Validity of the Visa/Period of Stay for a Thailand Tourist Visa
A tourist visa can go anywhere from three months to six month depending on the number of entries that you make through a border or airport. If you arrive in the Kingdom of Thailand through an airport, You passport will be stamped a 30 day or 60 day permission depending on the agreement that your country and Thailand have.
If you enter Thailand for a land border you will be given a 15 day permission to stay as a tourist. After that time you will have to exit the country before the expiration of your permission to stay. However, this can be extended for a short period of time by reporting to your local Thailand immigration Bureau. This extension is at the discretion of the immigration officer taking your application.
